Think about a time when someone challenged your opinion or told you that you were wrong. What was the disagreement about, and how did you defend yourself? Did you change their mind, or did they change yours?

I had a disagreement with my brother. We were disagreeing about which superhero was overall the best. I said Iron Man; he argued that it was Captain America. To defend myself, I said that Iron Man was the more intelligent and more powerful hero because of his inventions that were made in a cave.  I think I changed his mind the most; he did not have much to defend. I believed he favored him the most.

In class today, we went over a few more rhetorical devices before our quiz on Thursday.

Today I learned that similes don't just use the words "like" or "as" to compare things, but also "so". I feel I have used the word so to compare things, not knowing I was saying a simile.
