Think about a speech, song, or message that has inspired or motivated you. How did the speaker or writer use language to make an impact? Connect your experience to at least one rhetorical device you identified in Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

One message that I often think about is a really inspirational one in the Bible. Specifically, Philippians 4:6-7.  The writer made it sound very reassuring and believable. The author seems to use antithesis in those verses by pairing the negative command with a positive solution. This is similar to how Martin Luther King Jr. used it often in his speeches.

In class today, we analyzed and annotated, and identified some of the rhetorical devices used in the I Have a Dream speech of 1963.

I noticed that he used a lot of repetition, like "Let freedom ring" and "I have a dream to make his statement very clear and emphasize it more, which I think is effective.
