Today, we learned how to use clustering as a brainstorming strategy before responding to any writing prompt. Think about today’s practice. How did clustering help you generate ideas, examples, etc for the prompt? What part of the clustering process was most useful to you, and do you think you would use this strategy when planning an AP Lang essay? Explain

 I think the cluster method could be really helpful for my writing. Especially for generating the ideas and examples for evidence. It was really easy for me to generate supporting points for the main body paragraph. And easily separate brought her main argument.  I think the part that helped me the most was the five main points because it’s the most easiest, but it is pretty easy to come up with ideas there are similar to each other and not end up working. I think this would be an efficient method to use before starting my writing. 

Today in class we took notes on Brainstorming ideas.

The cluster method might be a very efficient way to easily generate ideas and examples. Very efficient way to quickly jot down before starting my writing in the future.

     One conversation that definitely changed my view on things was a conversation with my pastor. I was discussing how lost I felt in my religious life, and my faith in Jesus wasn't the strongest. I said to her that something was missing and that I was not feeling like I believed in a religion. She then told me that it is not about religion with Jesus Christ; it is simply you believing that he died on the cross for everyone's sin and having faith in him. Write about something that you believed as a child.

       Prompt Response:  As a child I often believed that there was always a monster hiding under my bed. I believe it first started when a watched a movie where a monster was under a child bed. I cant remember what the exact movie was but it was scary. I think I also believed that monsters were hiding in any dark places no matter where. So whenever I was going to bed as a child I was always very cautious of the potential monsters hiding. Even today as a teenager I tend to still think that there is some creature hiding somewhere in my room.   Summary: In class we took some notes discussing the types of claims.  Reflection:  In class I learned about three main types of claims which included Claims of Fact, Claims of value, and Claims of Policy. I think I use of policy greatly to propose or impose a specific change in the real world. I could also apply it to small scale individual situations .

With 4.5-week grades posting on September 2, reflect on your experience in AP Language so far. What has been going well for you, what has been challenging, and what is one thing you need to improve moving forward?

            In  the 4 1/2 weeks that have gone by something that has been going well for me is starting off my grades high and keeping them high. Something that has been challenging for me is a lot of the work that I’ve been getting from mostly my APs, but it is what I expected from being a junior. Something I think I really need to improve on is just my writing in general and my confidence in my writing. I tend to not know where and how to start my writing and just sit there for a while without writing anything wasting a lot of time. I also feel that I have not been participating as much as I want to just because I think I would say the wrong thing and get judged. In class we started and finished the argumentative paragraph on our positions that we had on a “good kill” in writeable.
